Graphic Design Technology, A.A.S.

Program Overview

Upon completing this degree, students will gain an understanding of contemporary visual communication systems and client-driven design practices.  This degree is Michigan Transfer Agreement (MTA)  compliant, but it also prepares learners to move directly into a professional experience in their field upon graduation.  The program emphasizes practical skills and collaboration, creating a supportive learning environment for students.  It encourages adaptability and the exploration of new design tools and techniques, helping students develop the persistence and engagement needed for academic and professional success.  By fostering a sense of community and shared responsibility, the program prepares students to thrive in the dynamic field of graphic design. This program is subject to change. Students should consult with their advisor for program updates.

To earn this degree, students must fulfill all requirements as defined by the Graduation Requirements for Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) Degree Programs . Each student should submit a graduation application at least one full semester before they plan to graduate. Courses taken out of sequence may delay a student’s ability to complete the program in a timely manner. Please refer to the Example Course Sequencing below and consult your advisor regularly.

Course Offerings


General Education and MTA Courses


A prerequisite course may be needed prior to enrollment in some courses within this program. Specific prerequisite requirements are listed in the Course Descriptions . Each general education course, prerequisite course, internship/practicum, and capstone course must be completed with a final grade of C or better. Students, working closely with their advisor, are permitted to substitute the courses in the General Education and MTA Courses section below according to the General Education Requirements . This program, as outlined, meets MTA requirements .
